  • How do I know if my insurance covers Specialized Physical Therapy?
    We are contracted with most insurances. As the insurance holder, it is your responsibility to know which services your insurance will cover. Call your insurance agency to ask if your plan covers our therapy services. We do not currently have a contract with Aetna at this time.
  • Do I need a referral to receive treatment at Specialized Physical Therapy?
    Most insurances do not require a referral from your primary care physician. However, Medicaid insurance does require a referral letter before they will cover treatment with us.
  • Can I come in for just a consultation and avoid going to another doctor?

  • How many times per week do I have to come?
    The frequency of visits will depend on both your needs and your insurance coverage. We like to see most patients for 2-3 times for the first couple of weeks, and then gradually progress to just one visit per week.

  • What does the first visit entail?
    During the first visit you will have a full hour dedicated with one of our physical therapists where the PT will collect information about your history and current condition, run through some hands-on examinations, and apply some interventions to provide both immediate and long-term relief. The interventions typically include a combination of hands-on manual work combined with therapeutic exercises.
  • Will I see the same therapist each visit?

  • What should I wear to my therapy visits?
    We recommend you wear something comfortable, with not too many layers, that provides easy access to the treatment area. Ex: shorts, t-shirt, yoga pants, tanktop, etc.
